I travel extensively in Europe and the USA, so I was hoping to add the US maps to the maps of europe delivered with the unit.
Here is the reply I received from TomTom Support :
Dear xxxxxxxxxx,
Thanks for your question.
The unit is delivered with all maps of Europe installed. All maps together is 1,7 GB (for the moment). Count with extra space for POI's and voices.
We doubt the map will fit on the harddrive, however you can always delete stuff you don't need.
With best regards,
TomTom support team
If there is insufficient space to store both maps sets on the hard drive, I could keep both map sets on the PC and copy the map set I need onto the TomTom Go as required.
I suppose another option would be to buy the TomTom Go 500 with the SD card and keep the map sets on separate cards.
Ideas anyone ? |

yet another option would be to replace the hard disk in the Go 700 for a bigger model. _________________ Lutz

Indeed, providing it's accessible. I imagine it will be an embedded microdrive of some kind.
If anyone gets an early peek inside a 700, would they post any useful information here. |

TomTom Go 700 has a internal hard drive of 2.5G meaning if you have a map of Europe which is 1.7G you have about 750mb left the entire US is about 960MB so as you may not fit the entire US you should be able to install about 3/4 of the US. |
