As an alternative to amplified cradle mounts and the problem of HP 5550's having pathetic speakers has anyone any experience (good or bad) using a bluetooth speaker? |

You can also use standard BT headsets, but the problem is always the same - your Pocket PC must support the Audio Gateway Profile, and you need to take extra measures to keep the channel open.
Otherwise the headset goes to sleep after each announcement and then misses the next one because it's slow to wake up.
I am routinely running Mediaplayer in the background at the lowest volume setting so you can't hear it but it still keeps the channel open. _________________ Lutz

Hi there,
Thanks for the reply, the H5550 supports the audi gateway and I have got it working OK with a headset, However on long journeys, the headset can be a bit awkward and was wondering about a speaker and bluetooth, particularly with regards to volume.

In that case you should be ok. There are a number of BT speakers on offer, and they all have their integrated amplifier. _________________ Lutz

Thanks for the advice, I'll see if I can pick up a speaker cheap on Ebay and give it a try
