Hi all, I'm real new to gps and i think i've up my maps. A brief history; I bought a nearly new typhoon my guide xl through ebay receantly, didn;t think i got a bad deal as it came with Falk Navigator and tomtom navigator as well, all on a 512mb cf card, plus all the usual. Everything worked fine with tomtom, even the safety camera database was a god send.....however, I was trying to update the camera database when things started going bad. Tomtom now refuses to work saying there's no map installed, I've got a file recovery program but even that doesn't seem to be much help. I'll give you a list of files that i've got, let me know if something's missing or how to get it back up and running.
Folder; Great_Britain Navigator Map 27.5mb
tomtom 5.99kb
tomtom navigator 2.89mb
tomtom navigator settings 24.6kb
tomtom navigator voice 10.6kb
Couldn't find an easy way of listing individual files so you got the folders instead. Any help is appreciated
Kev
ps, forgot to mention that pda didn't come with tomtom disc(s) so I cant re install that way |

I'm afraid to say you need to go back to the original seller. What they've sold you is a pirated copy of TomTom Navigator installed. All versions of TomTom Navigator come on CD, so if you haven't received a legitimate TomTom CD then what you were sold was a pirated copy. |

The map is definitely corrupt - the full Great_Britain map is around 100MBytes.
If you don't have one or more TomTom Navigator CDs and a Product Code label, then, as Dave says, you don't have a legitimate copy of TomTom Navigator 3. Legitimate copies are available from your favourite reseller for a little less than £100.

Thanks for your info guys. In my ignorance I was under the impression that a cf card was like a cd-r, (once recorded on that was it and couldn't be deleted). We all have to learn the hard way sometimes. Any way I've contacted the seller and he has assured me that he'll send the disc on to me, not holdin out much hope though, if he was gonna send it then he would've sent it in the first place. Looks like a trip to a authorised tomtom dealer is on the cards. Once again thanks, I'll let you know the outcome. Kevin |
