Navman 510 pois - speed gatsos etc I'm right on them when the warning sound is given. I can see them on the screen way before - but if your not watching the screen (which u can't do all the time for safety reasons while driving) - how are you supposed to know in plent y of time where they are. I have set them up as per the book. is there a way to give a sound warning long before ot warn you you are approaching the. When I look at the screen at sound etc. its like gatso 60 ft - in some cases I have already passed it.
generally impressed with it as a nav tool tho. |

Hi,
If you have set them up as per the book you will know that you can specify the distance before the POI that you receive the warning.
Under Active POI options you can move the 'Distance to POI'slider to select the dastance before reaching the POI that the audible and visual alert is given. _________________ Ian.

You can't do this in the navman itself from existing screen away fro the computer connection can you? Am I right in thinking I have to re-enter the pois and alter the settings for distance again at this point. I set them as 150 ft i think - but certainly not getting the sound at this point - yet the icon is on the screen way before the sound effect comes in. Should they be together? If so, what reasons could cause them not to be together? |

On the 510...
From the main menu tap 'Settings'
From the settings screen tap 'Alerts'
From the alert screen tap 'Active POI'
enter the name of the POI you want to alter then press 'Page', this will bring up the POI Activation Settings page.
Select the custom POI from the displayed list.
Active, Audible and visual check boxes should already be ticked.
You can adjust the slider to select the dastance before reaching the POI that the audible and visual alert is given. _________________ Ian.
