|
|
I have just brought a new kingston SD card to put the major roads of Europe on and when I put the card in the TOM TOM GO it shows on the screen to take it out, when I have done this it then tells me to put it in and then out again and then back in again????
I have loaded the map twice onto the card but it won' t read it, put the UK card back in and it's fine??
I have checked on the pc with the SD card in a card reader and the maps are on it but for some reason it won't work in the T T go.
Am I doing something wrong??
Thanks |

Hello escapepod,
Using the your card reader, copy all the data off your new sd card to your hard disk, then click on each of the files (hope there is not to many), then Right Click each file and make sure that the Attributes are ALL CLEAR - not Read Only or anything else (all box's UN-ticked), once you have done that you can copy them back to the sd card and it should work. |

Thanks for the reply and I have now tried this and even tried loading the maps throught and on to the Go via the USB lead from the PC and still it won't read the card ?
Maps of europe roads are on the card but it still asks me to remove the card?
No problem with the UK map that came with the unit.
Not sure what else I can do other than buy another SD card in case this one is faulty?
Thanks |

If the UK map runs OK with the SD card, the SD must be OK. Did you use the 'Add Other Maps' feature of the CD?
This would install the extra map(s) and provide the link for TTG to know where the maps are. _________________ Richard

Did you mean the UK map on the new card, or the original card? _________________ Richard

The original card supplied with the TTG with UK maps on already is working fine, its just the new card despite which ever means I've used to put the Major roads on does'nt work.
I've put it on my PC and transered it to the card and on through the USB to the TTG.
Thanks for the replies |

There is room on the 512 card for everything. You need to copy the whole contents of your original card to the PC. Then put the 512 card into the TTG and copy the contents of the original back onto the 512 card. Check this works first. It should. Then you can add the MRE map from the CD by using the installer on the CD.
Then you can use the Switch map option on TTG to choose the map you want.
Reading your posts it seems as if you may not have the full system software installed. The CD backup only copies the data not the system. You need to use drag and drop with TTG as a removable drive via the USB connection to copy everything and make a full backup. |

Is the "write protect" switch on the SD card in the "protect" position? |

Thanks for the help guys but I gave up on the SD card and brought another one but a 256Mb card and I put both UK and the major roads of Europe on it with no problem!
So it appears to have been the card after all.
All sorted
Thanks |
