|
|
Help, our iPaq 3970 has just died and we need to use TTN within days.
We will try to get the existing PDA fixed, but we might have to buy a new one. What is the procedure for installing TTN on a new PDA? How long does it take? Is there any way of speeding up the process by contacting TomTom in advance?
There is a thread headed "reinstall" in this forum which mentions emailing TomTom, but try as I might I can't find on TomTom's web site any way of emailing them. Is there an email address to which they respond?

I've now got to an "send us an email" form on their website. I got to it by doing a search for "reinstall" which came up with 0 matches (!!!) and invited me to send an email.

Hi Hugh,
I’m sorry to hear of the demise of your 3970.
If you haven’t used your Product Code to install TomTom Navigator on any other Pocket PC then you should be OK just to install it onto the new Pocket PC when you get it.
There are delays built into the activation process. You must wait 7 days after the first install to install to a second Pocket PC. You must then wait six months if you wish to install onto another Pocket PC. If you have any problems then contact TomTom.
You should be able to reinstall TTNav on a Pocket PC that has already been registered with TomTom for running TTNav as many times as you need to.
Good luck with the replacement, which one are you going to get?

Thanks for your thoughts.
Luckily, as I have mentioned on the Hardware section of the Forum, a simple press of the Reset button has brought the iPaq back to life.
Thanks again,
