|

I have just recently purchased V3 software, loaded as instructed, but when I try to load the maps it tells me there has been mutiple registrations. I have sent out an email to Navman about this but don't hold out much hope for a reply.
Any suggestions?? I tried to reload V2 software but again, when I try to load maps it tells me there have been mutiple registrations. It seems this software is FULL of bugs.

Hi there
I think on this one you need the help of a Navman Technical Services rep. I would suggest you call them on 01293 780 500. I'm sure they will be able to sort out your problem for you.
Regards

I had a similar problem when I upgraded my iCN630 to V2 and it was fairly easy to fix. The guy from Navman Tech Sercices talked me through the various steps and I've had no problems since. I'm sure they will give you all the help you need .
Regards

Thanks AlphieB,
I tried this morning from a fresh reboot of computer, left ICN630 off and loaded SmartST and it asked me for reg key (never asked for that before) so, put it in and, hey presto loaded maps ok.
Nothing in the Instructions though about procedure of Installation which woul have prevented this trouble in the first place, but thanks for your input, greatly appreciated.

Hi
I'm glad to have been of some help and hopefully now you shouldn't have any major problems.
Unfortunately the standard of Navman's User Guide leaves room for improvement espeacially in V1 but, in saying that, the days of having Technical Handbooks in hard copy have gone. You can of course get to the User Manual via your iCN Desktop.
I'm sure though before long you will be looking to upgrade to V3 because the problem that you have with V1 is that there now is no ongoing support for the NavTech Maps which you are using. I know that we tend to knock TeleAtlas as not being as good as NavTech but the fact is that is where future support will come from.
Best wishes

OOPS
As soon as I hit the key I knew I'd it up.
I've stared celebrating early and posted to the wrong subject. Ignore me at the moment whilst I go and sit in a dark room until after Christmas .
I'll have to ask that nice Mr Tim to "edit it out for me please "
Regards

Hi,
Does anyone know if the V3 maps will cover Eastern Europe, specifically Poland? If not, is it possible to get maps that will over Poland for the ICN 630? |

Looking at the V3 map installer software, the boarders of the maps are essentially Germany, Austria and Italy - with the exception of Eastern Germany, the old East Europe is not covered.
I've no doubt they will be covered in the fullness of time, as they are up and coming holiday destinations, it just depends if the authorities will allow it. _________________ Mark

The answer is 42. Now what is the question? |

Mapping of Eastern Europe is underway as reported here
Tele Atlas already covers Poland, the Czech Republic and Greece.
In Q1 2005 they expect to release Hungary and the Slovak Republic.
They say Russia and Turkey will be mapped in Q1 of 2005.
By Q2 Tele Atlas will bring the Baltic States, Slovenia and Croatia into the digital map portfolio.
Finally Romania, Bulgaria, Serbia & Montenegro, Belarus, Moldavia, Ukraine, Macedonia, Albania and Bosnia & Herzegovina will complete the Pan-European Coverage drive in 2005.
However, when these areas will be made available by Navman is not known. _________________ Ian.

Thanks icsys. I guess I will just get the V3 software this year and wait for V4 to come out from Navman whenever it's made available. |

Just noticed that GeoSat review mentions it uses TeleAtlas and that covers Poland as well as a couple of new ones. The s/w is dated April 2004, so why didn't Navman include it in their release late this year? Guess I'll have to just get V3 and wait a bit longer for Poland... |

I've ordered my V3 maps on 19 Jan - just bought a one region version though (UK). Will get the V4 ones if and when they arrive for all over Europe providing it covers Poland as well!
For some reason haven't had any info on delivery yet and they say items are sent out within 24 hours. |

Does anyone know where I can get information about the status of the maps in SmartST V3, similar to the information about the V2 maps on this page (see map coverage details at the bottom of the page)? What I'm interested in is what differerence there is between the maps in V2 and V3 respectively. I've been surfing at Tele Atlas site to find this kind of information but without any success.
My understanding is that SmartST V2 is based on Multinet 2003:3 while V3 is based on Multinet 2004:2-3. It would be interesting to know what regions have improved the most between these map releases.
Cheers,

It would indeed be good to see the differences.
I suspect that many countries have hardly improved at all whereas others such as Ireland have inproved considerably. _________________ Ian.
