Hi guys.
I've been able to download a new POI category to my TTG and everything is working well. The POI has its own logo, and the POIs themselves are roughly in the right places etc etc.
BUT - if I am trying to navigate to one, all I get is a list that calls each one "POI 345" or "POI 567" or "POI 876" etc etc.
ie I can't search for anything under its own name or even the name of its specific location! HELP!
How can I modify this ov2 file so that I can navigate to the POI of my choice instead of having memorise its specifically allocated number??
I converted the wrong type of file to the ov2 - therefore it didn't bring up the names.
I went back and used the original .axe file and converted that and now its working absolutely fine!
:D
SO, lessons that I have learnt in the last few weeks and which may also be beneficial to other users are:
1. Be very grateful for all the advice and help that you receive from the moderators such as Tim Buxton, Dave and other senior guys, especially Oldie for his excellent converting program. Cheers guys!
2. Remember, the TTG will not show your POI list that you add even if you add it to the GB Map folder if there are already over 40 new POI categories in there. What a bummer!
3. The super easy way to make a POI list is to decide what category you want (ie. Mosques in my case), get a list of all the mosque addresses in some kind of format, save it as a csv file (comma seperated values), then import that file into Autoroute using its data wizard, let it map all your address points on the map for you, save that file as an .axe file, then throw that into Oldie's converter and save it as an ov2 file or whatever you want as per your GPS unit. Voila!
4. Take advice from others cos they've definitely been there before - I've just made the POI database for the UK's Mosques (nearly 1000 of them!) and it took me 20 minutes using the above method! When I was originally planning it, I thought it'd take me 2 months! We can do what we like now with ANY category!
