|
|
New iPAQ received, installed TT3 (+3.07 upgrade) ... New Fortuna Clip On arrived (manual says v1.2) .. all fires up OK, and works a treat for a few minutes driving then the map freezes / locks.
Display shows it is still seeing sats .. but if you look under GPS, the Lat & Long are not changing - although the sat bars are shown in lock.
On the Fortuna the Blue light is on .. but has stopped flashing, and I have checked a few times it is happily bursting away up until if freezes and at that point just stays solid blue. (even if left for an half an hour)
If I switch off Fortuna and wait a few seconds and then switch back on .. often all works OK again without restarting TT3 .. but sometimes I have to restart the application.
I have removed and re-installed TT3 and maps just in case but still the same, am I safe in assuming the Fortuna is faulty, or is it not possible to tell from this.
I have been told that it could be the SD card .. a brand new Kingston 256Mb (bought Kingston to avoid cheapy makes).
Anybody suggest anything ? ... |

I have the same problem. I had a perfect working system - ipaq 2210, TTN3 and Rikaline X7 Bluetooth.
Bought an ipaq 4700, and the problem started with TTN3 freezing. I tried installing maps on the CF card, the SD card. I defragmented as suggested it still happens.
I wonder if its anything to do with the lastest TTN upgrade?? |

Try disabling the display of POIs to see if that helps. You can still navigate to them and checkpoint will still warn against them but just don't display them _________________ Rgds,

I have tried disabling POI, makes no difference. I have tried different versions of the GPS driver, I have re-installed everything. It still locks up. I am sure its something to do with the GPS driver because when the device freezes, GPS still shows satellites being received, If I the close TTN and restart then their is no signal being received at all until a soft reset is performed. (which is a bit hard to do when driving!)
Any more ideas?
Thanks |

Thanks for the link but I've had the patch described from day one. The only thing mentioned that I havent is to try the GPS driver 2.07 from this website, wasnt sure if it would work with TTN3. Might give that a go next. |

OK - an improvement ..
I tried somebody else’s SD card and also tried another Fortuna ... same problem - so looks like TT3 is the fault.
I removed TT, reinstalled a base install and then applied .03 upgrade.
Now it no longer freezes / locks up. NIG improvement.
However it runs for 5-10 mins, then the Bluetooth Browser window pops up asking me to choose a device ... once it has popped up it keeps reappearing at annoying but random intervals.
Sometimes as much as once a minute.
I have been advised that 'Bluetooth Tweak' a freeware utility may fix this, so will give it a go. |

Installed "Bluetooth Tweak" and things are at last working.
Now instead of bringing up Bluetooth manger every few minutes, I just get a beep ... screen says GPS unreliable .. then another beep and it carries on.
At least it works.
Still less solid than I expected ... don't know whether this is Bluetooth or the GPS side.
(iPAQ has Bluetooth Manager 1.4.1 build 58 ) |

Some more information - in case it triggers anything with those in the know.
Installed Bluetooth Tweak and much better ... each loss of synch, just a beep and back in a couple of seconds.
But still get the total loss of synch.
Today happened 5 times in a 350 mile round trip.
On 4 occasions I could restart by opening Bluetooth manager - I could see hat shortcut showed not connected .. tap/hold/connect re-established connection and TT3 carries on OK.
However on one of the occasions (and this has now happened several times) same symptoms .. but unable to re-establish connection.
Either Bluetooth manager goes into "waiting for device" or "unable to establish connection"
Only a soft reset will then recover form this.
When in this 'no signal mode' the Fotuna has a permanent 'on' Bluetooth LED (not blinking) the other 2 LEDs are green.
I have re-installed TT3 (applied 3.03 upgrade) and also re-installed the iPAQ Bluetooth driver.
Fortuna have confirmed I have the latest firmware.
Now had the set up for 3 weeks and not had it stable yet .... any ideas? |
