I have decided to go from using my H5550 with navigator 3, to the new GO 700. (I say decided, but it's only because my Ipaq blew up yesterday !!!) Anyway, at the moment I have a Seidio G2500 mount and would like to know does anyone know whether I will be able to just put the new GO mount on and use the Seidio cigerette lighter power lead with it? I say this because I spent ages routing it through my cars facia and can't face doing it again with the new GO power lead. I'm guessing that it will be the same current/polarity but a definitive answer would be good!?
Also, does anyone know when the GO 700 is actually available (At the moment I have pre-ordered it from Dabs)

You MUST NOT do that. The Seidio cigarette lighter adapter is a plain 12V passthrough - this will immediately fry the GO.
What you can do is disassemble the Seidio cigarette lighter and replace it with a standard 12V > 5V cigarette lighter. That way you don't have to reroute the cable. Some soldering experience is helpful. _________________ Lutz

Cheers - So I guess that the 12 to 5v step down is done inside the Seidio mount!? I would have thought that the tomtom GO unit would also take the 12v and step it down? Obviously not. So does the step down for the GO occur in the cigarette adaptor itself? _________________ If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice ! |

Correct. The GO expects 5v on it's input in common with the majority of PDA's. _________________ Darren Griffin |
