Thanks Darren - I'm using Mr Gates standard product within XP.
It only shows folders entitled:-
- CSV files
- Speed zoned
- WAV files
- XLS files
plus four TXT files (licence, readme, version 3.034 & which files should I use).
Interesting.
Regards,
Rich |

Just downloaded Winzip and all the ov2 and bmps were visible and extractable.
XP worked file on last month's download.
Yet another bug in one of Mr Gates' wonderful products? Never - someone will tell me next that Tony Blair sometimes tells fibs.
Thanks again Darren. |

I have just downloaded the database again and opened the ZIP using Windows XP Home SP2 and the folder is showing Perhaps it is the comma in the folder name that is causing the problem, but why does it work on some PCs
Anyway I will remove the comma and upload the ZIP file again some time today. _________________ Various TomToms, Garmin eTrex Legend, GPSMAP 60CSx, Oregon 550t, Forerunner 405 |

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRr!!!
4th April
I am getting mad...
I have been trying to down load the camera database for the past 4 days and it STILL comes down as v3.024 and not v3.024...
I have been told that this is because I am on NTL and they dont clear their cache?? and it dont recognise the new latest version for some time...
I am not a techie and dont fully understand this..
However I have noticed that the file ALWAYS has the same file name would it not be posible for the authers to put a number or somthing in the file name to make it different and then that might solve the problem..
Before I rant any more I thank Daren for his help in this.... _________________ Happy to meet -- Sorry to part -- Happy to meet again |

We can put a number after the file but unfortunately that will then break hundreds of other sites that rely on the filename being the same.
If you still can't download it, PM meyour email address and I'll send it to you. |

Hello Fibre
I am with NTL and downloaded the latest version at the weekend. I was wondering whether it is your computer picking up the site from its own cache.
Have you tried refreshing the page on your computer? |

Hi Fibre. (no pun intended)
Try cleaning your cached files in Internet Options. _________________ Richard

Final update, apologies for delay - been away for a week.
My XP is SP1. The updated download ZIP now works fine with the Windows default unzipper.
Thanks,
Rich |

Thanks I have done that now ---
Next month I will first try to down load and see what comes down -- then if it is wrong - I will clear the cache.. on my computer as sugested... then I will down load again and see if it has corrected it..
does that sound correct??
Thanks for the help and suggestions every one _________________ Happy to meet -- Sorry to part -- Happy to meet again |

I'm a little unclear on this.
At present the speed camera files I have on my Tomtom Go is the update from late Jan. To update it with the latest Mar 31 update I should download the new file "pocketgps_uk_sc" and then extract the files to the "Great_Britain-Map" folder on the SD card?
Is there anywhere I can view a list of which files should be in that folder?
Additionally, I changed the files/settings so that I received the spoken alert for the various speeds for the speed camera's. Most of them were correct but every now and then the alert would say "60" on a 40mph road!
Did anyone else have this? _________________ Quality DJs

Read this and this, it lists all the files and who can use which.

It could be that they have been zoned incorrectly by someone, or the speed has been changed. Remember, the database is only as good as the information that users supply. Make a note of the camera numbers, with speeds, and ask for the database to be updated by sending in to Oldie. _________________ Richard

Observation/ Question. Have got the database downloaded. Works fantastic BTW.
What I have noticed though, is that the files names are very long, especially the zoned speed files for mobile . When I look at the POI on the TT the names are so long that I cannot see the end of them.
Example of what is displayed "pocketgps uk mobile..."
This makes it especially tricky when setting up warnings.
Is there a way to scroll along to see the full file name?
Alternatively could the file names be reversed so that the speed and camera type info is at the start of the file name? Gatso is not to much of a problem as there is the speed symbol and the start of the file name.
Hope this makes sense. Apologies if this has been asked and answered before.
Cheers |

Might have answered my own qestions here, but I'm I right in thinking I can just rename the files before copying them to the TT as long as the file type remains the same?
Thanks |
