Hi
Have just purchased the battery extender (DCV35 + PB4A) from Pc-Mobile (recommended on this forum), ordered it yesterday at 4.00pm came by Ist post to-day, very good service, also looks well constructed. QUESTION: would you let the Mio internal battery run byself for a few hours, or connect the battery extender to the Mio from the outset? I feel just letting the external battery discharge into the Mio's internal battery as not so effecient.

Hi,
I have the same setup. The Mio treats the external battery as Mains power, and the external battery will charge the mio's internal battery.

If using it for long periods with the GPS, such as a day walk, you will need to make sure that the backlight settings are set to switch off after 1 or 3 mins when on AC power. The first time I used it I did not realise this, I had the battery power setting to switch off, but not on AC power. As a result the extenal battery only lasted about 5 hours!!
With the correct settings it will last all day.

Hi
Thanks thats useful to know, I would have missed that point. I find the screen dificult to see in bright daylight on the Mio. My old Palm 505 is much clearer. I used them both today to find a waypoint and the old Palm was more accurate!
