Hi,
It is the same one as Halfords are doing - the MDPNA100 aka MD95025.
Its a bloody good gadget. My mother in law has just bought one for her partner purely on watching mine when I've taken her here and there.
Make sure you get the latest software if you get it from Halfords - ask them when the got their latest stock in - I got mine about 2 weeks ago and got the new software.
The only other way to tell if you are getting the new software apart from turning it on and checking is to count the CD's - New = 5 (1 Blue, 4 pictured).
Hope this helps. |

But for £350 or thereabouts there are MUCH better options. The Mio168 can be had with TomTom Navigator for less than that and the New TomTom GO 300 is only a few quid more although it's not available just yet. _________________ Darren Griffin |

thanks Darren,
I just popped into Halfords.. must say the guys had no idea.. but thanks to this forum i found last night for all the info etc.
I almost bought the Medion, but stopped when the software was the 4.2 version (four disks)... i am not really that sure how much of a difference there is 4.2 to 4.4.. but will check the medion web site (although that is not much kop).. |

But does the Medion not come with European maps - surely thats a big difference and certainly one of the key factors I was looking at?

Yes but registered TTN3 users will get Euro maps at a heavily discounted price as part of the TTNv5 upgrade and the Mio can Play .mp3s anyway as can any PocketPC! _________________ Darren Griffin |

Oh - that's interesting I didn't know that. Can you provide any more details (apologies if this has been posted about before - I don't remember seeing anything).
Do you know if you have bought a second-hand go you can become registered (having just posted regarding one in the for-sales!)?
Cheers

Full details of the upgrade offer will be available shortly, I can't go into any detail at present. The offer applies to all registered user/owners and I would expect 2nd user owners of GO devices will be eligible also. The important factor will be possession of the original installation key, if you get this with the GO unit then you'll be ok. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Darren,
Thanks for the information - I'll keep my eye out for details.
Looking back at the thread I assume you see the key difference between the Medion PNA100 and the Mio option you suggest as being the fact it uses TomTom rather than Navigon as I guess the hardware will be of a similar quality (having seen a couple of Mio 168's which are perfectly adequate but definately a bit plasticy)
Cheers

I might be too late....
But I have just come back from a trip to Spain and I found the Medion PNA100/MD95025 superb.
The only time it was wrong was when the Spaniards threw in a few new round abouts just for good measure.
I like the fact thats its a full blown windows 2003 machine so you can stick loads of other software on it and play videos/mp3s.
I also have installed "Follow Me" on it for when I leave the road.....
Mine come with 4 disks including Teleatlas maps and the awefully handy Mapexport utility.
Your right the majority of Halfords staff knew B***** all about the contents and they insisted that the European maps included were only main trunk roads.......luckily for me they were WRONG...
The European maps are full street level mapping and I found the detail for spain was pretty good and covered many villages too.
IMHO I believe the Medion is a good buy although the battery life isn't fantastic when the GPS is active but at least you can buy spare batteries.
