|
|
I have had to carry out a hard rest of my PDA, and thus need to re-install all.
I see that the files are no longer on the Digitools site ... luckiliy I saved the zip files with the files set ... BUT I do not have a copy of teh instructions on how to install.
Does anybody have a copy of the installation instructions for this SUPERB utility |

Step One
The zip file contains five files: ukpostcode.dat which is the database, ukpostcode.exe which is the application used for the look-up, setup.exe which installs the TomTom hook, TTNControl.ini which controls the install, and TTNControl.arm.CAB which is the actual interface to TTN
Step Two
Place your PocketPC in the cradle and connect to the PC using ActiveSync.
Step Three
(Note that if you've already got CheckPOInt installed you don't need to complete this step. CheckPOInt will already have installed the necessary TTN support files. Simply carry on from step four.)
Use Windows Explorer to copy the 'TTNControl.arm.cab' file to the 'My Documents' folder on your PPC. Then, using File Explorer on the PPC, locate this .cab file and double tap to install it. The .cab file will self delete following installation.
Step Four
Use Windows Explorer to browse your PocketPC. Locate your storage card, create a folder called 'ukpostcode' on the storage card and copy ukpostcode.exe and ukpostcode.dat to it. It is important that the .exe file is in the same folder on the PocketPC as the .dat file, or it won't work.
Finally, create a shortcut to ukpostcode.exe and drag it to the "Windows\Start Menu\Programs" folder on the PocketPC (don't drop it in \windows\programs - it won't appear anywhere). This allows you to use the usual PocketPC method to attach ukpostcode to one of your hardware keys, or make it appear in your main menu. Having it hooked to one of the hardware keys is a particularly convenient way of accessing the program when TomTom is running. _________________ Ian.

Changing over from a CF card to an SD one has resulted in the UKPostCodes short cut not working (it's still trying to point to the CF card).
I can't see a way of modifying the shortcut so do I have to reinstall the post code programme? If I do could some kind soul send me the zip file please?
Thanks, Simon |

I didn't keep the original CAB file I'm afraid - but I'm sure someone can help you (and me if I ever need to re-load it!)

If you're not already aware, you can't get it still "officially" by it's author because the holders of the postcode database Copyright stopped him.
Therefore, you're asking someone who had previously downloaded it to send you a copy - which, perhaps, not everyone is prepared to do.
The alternative is to upgrade to the new version of TT when it becomes available soon, which does have full postcode searching.

yes I am aware is not availiable now, but people are using it so it is out there somewhere. I just want some kind person to 'help' me find it. If it has been made illeagal to use I can understand why some people wont 'send' me it, however, some obviouly dont care as they discuss using it on here. Please someone, help me 'find' it!
