anyone try running tomtom mobile on a audiovox smt 5600?
Is there much difference between the 5600 and C500?
anyone try U.S. maps on the TTmobile software even though it isn't release for U.S. users?
any info about using TTmobile in the U.S. would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks! |

They're identical to the C500 except for any operator specific software changes. _________________ Darren Griffin |

then is there any reason that TTmobile won't run on a smt 5600?
can anyone that is using TTmobile on any phone tell me what kind of format the maps are in? is it the same format as for the pocket pc maps?
i suspect they are different formats... |

I believe TomTom Mobile is supplied on an SD card? However the specs say it comes with a reduced size MMC card. Is TomTom Mobile available on this type of card? If not is it possible to transfer it? |

yes it is. Bakup to harddisk ot CD the copy to RS-MMC, subject to licence etc etc.
Anyone know if TTM will run on an 8800, 7710 or more unlikely I think 3650. All different potential users !!
I think 7710 is OK, 8800 is maybe the newer symbian OS ? But nokia don't seem to state which OS is being used. I know Route88 have a version planned for later phones but if anyone has experiance with TTM that would be great

I can confirm it runs on Qtek 8020 and T-Mobile SDA (I've used it personally on both). |

I would recommend a far more cautious approach than this. I suggest listing phones that people have tested (ideally with the phone ROM and TomTom Mobile version listed explicitly), phones that are likely to work (as they're so similar to tested phones), phones that do not work (with reasons, if known - such as "phone uses UIQ, not Nokia Series 60"), and phones that haven't yet been tested.
The two phones TDK mentioned are, I believe, the same hardware and therefore very similar software, but there may be just enough difference between the SP3 and C500 ROMs for one to work with TomTom Mobile and the other not to work.

Good point, as IIRC TT5 Mobile even stopped working on the C500 at one point due to firmware changes by Orange. |

Want to try and get TT mobile 5 to run on my O2 branded XDA SP.
From what I can see the XDA SP is actually a SP3i. Are there variations in firmware etc ?.
The SP3i is listed as working on TT's web site but due to the cost implications I don't want to go that route untill I know for sure that it will work..
A friend has TT mobile 5 running on his Orange C500 (SP3) and it works fine. Just to test it out we setup a MiniSD card to try it on my phone...
It looks like it should work but if you plot a route and then try demo mode it locks up after a few miles, similar when used with his Bluetooth GPS. Could it be a firmware / hardware issue ?
Having bought a TTN5 Windows PDA version and never been really happy with it after the good TT3 version i.e actually never sometimes finding a fix before I complete my trip !!!!. I don't want to spend the hard earned cash before I KNOW it will work.
Any comments appreciated.
