Looks good. For a while (before I bought the Brodit Pro Clip and Mount) I used the cradle with my 3970, but never thought of attaching a window mount to it.



One word of caution however.

Earlier this year I had a Garmin GPS12 connected to a 3750 Ipaq. I had made a bracket which sat on the top of the dashboard in my Citroen Picasso. The bulk of the wiring was contained in a back plastic box purchased from Maplins.

Having completed the bracket and adjusted it to take the GPS equipment my wife was going to cover the metal parts with material to cut down on reflections from the windscreen. I left the kit in the vehicle ready for my wife to "inspect" and decide how she was going to cover it.

Unfortuneately she never got round to doing it that evening and the kit got left in the vehicle which was parked in my drive. Next day I found that some "kind person" had smashed the nearside quarterlight and stolen the whole kit.

Unfortuneately I had not taken a photgraph of it.



I am now a little wary of leaving anything in the car as a semi permanent installation.



I replaced the 3750 and GPS 12 (the insurance company being sympathetic)with a 3970 and Emtac Bluetooth GPS, which are totally portable.



The only things I now leave in the vehicle is the Brodit bracket and the power supplies.

Regarding Previous Post. I may have given the impression that with the insurance company being sympathetic they replaced my GPS12 and 3750 with a 3970 and Emtac Bluetooth GPS. They were not that sympathetic, I had to pay the difference.

Apart from my hard wired Leadtek's that sit on the dash and can look like an anti-theft deterent as they don't have any names or GPS written on them, the mounts I usually take out of my car if I'm parking it somewhere other than my home/work location. I think the power cables can still attract people as they know something was plugged in there, but if it's not on show, I think it does reduce the percentage of someone breaking into the car.

I had a similar idea, but can't get it to work. I have a Garmin GPS 90, and I bought the Garmin Serial PC/12 VDC power cable. I also have a serial cradle for my Ipaq 3650. I used a null modem adapter from Radio Shack to hook the two serial cables together, but can't get the Ipaq to recognize the GPS. Any ideas, or can you point me in the right direction for help?

Mage11an, it could be that one of those cables aren't working correctly. Do you really need to power the GPS90 via the car adapter or will batteries work ? If batteries will work, then I'd goto www.pc-mobile.net/gps.htm and purchase a GRQ36 cable which will give you the Garmin end, and an iPAQ 36xx cable end.

You need to make sure that the Garmin is exporting under the interface tab as NMEA 4800. Then use any application on the Pocket PC and connect to COM1 NMEA 4800 and you should be good to go.
