|
|
I have two XDA II's and I want to able to use both with one set of maps (Smart STV3), I have installed and registed everything for one of my XDA's, I have also installed and actived the software etc on the 2nd XDA, when I try and install the maps on the 2nd XDA II, NAVMAN won't let me register the new hardware, because 1 piece of hardware has already been registered.
Does anybody know a walk around for this, so that I can load in the maps,
BTW I have maps install on SD card, when I run Smart ST on the 2nd XDA with the SD installed, Smart ST runs ok but won't load the maps.
I have contacted NAVMAN customer support a before easter, no rsponse though. |

Like most software it will only allow you to Activate/Register to one device. To use the same make of software on each XDA II you will need to purchase an additional copy. _________________ Graham.

I don't really buy that (excuse the pun), I have installed several items of software on my my PC and laptop without any problems, me thinks this is a NAVMAN con, if I own the software and hardware I should be able to install it on my devices.
Does anybody know the phone number contact to for NAVAM, I have serached there web site and I can't find it. |

When you ring Navman, and you can do so on 01293 780500, they will tell you that you aren't buying the software but you are buying a licence to use the software and maps on one device. That is the way most software works. I say most, because Garmin, for instance, allow you to install their software onto two devices, so long as you own both devices. _________________ Tim |

You'll find that you are operating the software on the one PC illegally then, unless you are using say Openoffice, which is open source, or the student edition of office, which I believe allows upto 3 PC's to have it installed on legally.
The latest versions of Office and Windows has much stronger protection and can be less easily used on more than 1 pc. _________________ Mark
