Destinator actually ignores your indication of installation to the storage card and installs to main memory anyhow. This is one of the major critique items that we bring up with HSTC over and over again.
So it may be that your Pocket PC is running low on memory and then stops processes that it actually still needs (like Touchscreen control etc). Just a wild guess - but you may want to verify how much RAM is available before Destinator is running and while it is running. _________________ Lutz

actually i have found i quide which can move the whole installation in SD, which by the way i can share with youif you are interesting .
i checked the available memory before running destination after and those are my results:
available memory without running destination :
STORAGE: 8MB, PROGRAMS:35,66MB
available memory when destination is running :
STORAGE: 8MB, PROGRAMS:30 MB
any advise? is that proposion of memory enough? |

Yes, that memory should be fine.
Please give us the guide - we are very interested to see that. _________________ Lutz

This is the guide to move the whole intallation of destinator 3 to SD card
1) we copy (not Move) the directory DestinatorApps from main memory to SD
2) we erase from DestinatorApps Directory everything exept the directory Activation in directory Common
3) we run Regeditor (Resco File explorer) and make the following changes : HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Apps\DestinatorApps change the strings InstallDir & InstlDir from DestinatoApps\Destinator to
xxx \DestinatoApps\Destinator * where xxx = the name of your SD card(most often Storage Card).
4) we correct in Start Menu the shortcut of Destinator to its new location. (use Resco File explorer)
1. Go Start --> Settings--> Memory drag the slider to Storage leaving more Free memory to Programms
2. Go Start -> Settings -> System -> Utility -> Smart Battery -> and choose High Performance
3. run again registry editor HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\GDI\GLYPHCACHE\ change the value of 'limit' from 8192 to 32768
4. Soft Reset |

Uh, I don't think this will work.
3) This is merely information for the uninstall, the program doesn't look at it when it runs
1. this is a temporary setting, the OS is overwriting that in a few seconds
2. not present on all Pocket PCs, and not related to the problem
3. This is a standard tweak to improve text display performance, no relation to Destinator.
When I follow the steps you list all I get is "Your software is not correctly installed! Please reinstall the program"
Maybe you have done additional steps? _________________ Lutz

the last 3 steps are just for pocket pc performance improvment.
As for the first steps dont forget to LEAVE DestinatorApps/destinator/common/activation (forder activation with all the content inside the rest just folders
it works in my hp1940 and my friends qtek 2020
What about my problem!!!
i think i have memory, during my navigation everything is wrking just fine but when i hear that i have reached my destination PDA is not working any more , but destinator s still showing my position (it is not freezed!!) |

hi folks...im new here :p
i have the same issue as the OP...but instead i have a hp ipaq 2210 (rom version 1.10) with destinator 3.075 australian maps installed..
destinator works fine until you leave the program idle and after about 20mins the touch screen is inaccessible..destinator still runs however but to get the touch screen activated again you would need to perform a soft reset..
its annoying..as ive noticed this only happens with 3.075..not with 3.054...i would definitely revert back to 3.054 if only i could use the 3.075 australian maps..
i have around 28mb program memory free before running destinator and about 22mb free whilst destinator is running
ive performed twice, hard resets and reinstalled everything from scratch but i still have the same problem
please can someone help with a solution?
cheers

that is definitely not normal
sounds like your problem is worse than mine
does anyone have any ideas on why destinator 3.075 is behaving this way? 3.054 was just fine |

edit..ok i think ive solved my problem...reinstalled desinator on the pda from another computer with a friends cd but my activation details
seems to be working fine now
also noticed that the ipaq 2210 cannot handle this new versions processing requirements..ie i had to turn of features such as showing the position, velocitiy, eta, etc. of destinator just to get the program running smoothly..because if i hadnt..the program lags a bit and doesnt update your position consistently |
