Hi Sterlin, here's a brief run-down...
VIEW | DEVELOPMENET
Basically gives you the NMEA or SiRF data it's getting back in the data stream
VIEW | SINGAL LEVEL
Will show you the complete map of where the satellites are, the SV is the Satellite, Az is Azimuth, you also have EI, CN, ST
VIEW | NAVIGATION
This shows you all the generic information you would expect to see back from a GPS Receiver like Longitude and Latitude, Altitude, UTC (Universal Time), Satellites locked onto and the HDOP or VPOP.
TOOLS | COMMAND
Reset Mode allows you to do a reset on the GPS Receiver simulating a Hot Start, Warm Start, Cold Start or Factory Start. You can also enable RAW Track Data and Development Data to get full information back.
I haven't messed around too much in the NMEA tab screen, so I really can't say what the impact would be on dramatically changing these settings. |

Using an ipaq 5450 and an Emtac jacket, anticipating TT2 arriving soon I thought I would try winfast to check for connection problems. Not anticipating any as cruxview and pocket streets are working OK.
However, I can't get winfast to show anything. If I did not have cruxview and pocket streets working I would have come to the conclusion there was no data getting from the sleeve to the ipaq.
Could I have missed some obvious setting?
Jim

Using COM4, NMEA, 4800.
Both cruxview and pocket streets work on com 4. Also just tried GPSdash and that is OK with the above settings.
Tried COM1 for Winfast and still no signal.

Sorry Jim, didn't read your first message, you're using the Emtac sleeve. Emtac do stealth the port, so most programs unless they have a specific driver to use to work with the sleeve, won't be able to connect. I'm interested that Pocket Streets works though, which version of AutoRoute was that with ? |

That is with Autoroute 2003 and the version of pocket steets loaded from the CD.
I was only trying winfast as I had seen that was recommended to people having problems getting a signal on TT2. My software for that has not arrived yet, but since I get a signal with cruxview, pocket streets and GPS dash I don't think I should have a problem with TT2. Just wanted to try to make it work! There are some settings in winfast nmea (GGA, GLL, GSA etc) but the defaults of those are different to the ones that cruxview shows. I tried changing them to be the same, but that made no difference.

Just another note. I also tried vito navigator and that would not run. I emailed vito and they said it won't work with the 5450 and they expect another version within 2 weeks. It may not work with the Emtac jacket of course..... _________________ Jim |

Not sure about the 5450, but there are known problems with various software including Destinator running with the Emtac sleeve. We had difficulties getting TTFF's out of the sleeve initially. TomTom Navigator 1 will work okay with the Emtac sleeve, so there shouldn't be any reason why it won't run with TTN2, and I believe several people here are running it with that setup. |
