Hi.
I haven't seen anyone else post about this yet but there is some detailed info on the tomtom site about the V5.0 upgrade.
To summarise:
Code: |
When can I expect an upgrade program for my TomTom GO software and maps?
The TomTom GO upgrade is starting mid-April 2005. All registered GO users will receive a newsletter informing them about this upgrade.
The upgrade will only be available via the TomTom website. You will need your TomTom GO product code to apply for your upgrade.
It is not possible to upgrade your hardware to a new model of TomTom GO.
You have the option to upgrade your region to a new version of your region on SD card or the Maps of Western Europe to upgrade to a new CD-ROM set with Maps of Western Europe.
|
Code: |
What will I receive when I upgrade my TomTom GO software and maps?
TomTom will provide you with the latest TomTom GO software and maps on a memory card or CD-ROM corresponding to the region that you originally purchased.
You have the option to upgrade:
1. Your region to a new version of your region on SD card + door-to-door navigation to any address within your region and to any town in Europe or major road in a European city:
Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Finland
Great Britain
Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Poland and the Czech Republic
The Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg
France
Italy
Spain and Portugal
2. Maps of Western Europe to a new CD-ROM set with Maps of Western Europe
|
Code: |
How much time do I have to upgrade my TomTom GO product?
The upgrade offer will be available for 6 months*.
*TomTom can shorten the period, change the upgrade conditions or cancel the upgrade offer.

Maybe slightly OT, but the TomTom Customer Support site is closed for maintenance until Thursday 31st. March, does anyone read anything into this or is it just my wishful thinking that that is V5 day. |

Sorry it is exactly as I said no inside knowledge.
However as TT are quoting mid April, and I have never known any software to be released on time you make your own mind up... _________________ Mike Barrett |

I might be being thick here, but does this mean they are sending out new SD cards, with new maps free of charge? |

The only free thing is the system upgrade.
New maps will cost money. |

No, they will likely send existing users a CD withwhich they can upgrade their version. The maps will be a chargeable upgrade although it will be a nominal cost, Euro 39 has been rumoured. _________________ Darren Griffin |
