I've been doing some experimentation with converting the database into a transparent map overlay which can be displayed on most, if not all, Garmin mapping GPSRs. This has a huge advantage over storing them as Waypoints in that it doesn't clog up the WP memory, and you can see all the cameras in the database as opposed to being constrained by the limit in your unit. It also has a small disadvantage in that when you zoom out, you still see all the cameras, so the map looks like an explosion in a Smartie factory unless you temporarily "turn off" the POI map set. But I think I may be able to work around that one.
So far I've just done this for my own use but I'm trying to gauge whether there is any interest from others. I'm even prepared to make this available via the PocketGPS website if there is sufficient demand, and if PocketGPS are willing to host it.
I appreciate this isn't a typical Garmin forum but I thought I'd start here.

Ok, as soon as I've rebuilt my mapping environment following a hard-disk crash last Friday, I'll see if I can get a screenshot from my 2610.
As for details, well, not much to say other than its a map of the whole of the UK with the cameras shown as Garmin POIs. Most colour Garmins seem able to display at least 8 colours so I have used the existing database splits to display different camera types in different colours. The .img file for the UK comes to about 16k, so its negligible in terms of space. You download it to your GPSR using the standard MapSource procedure. Because it is a transparent map, it is displayed on top of any other maps you happen to have in your unit, and as it is from a different Garmin map "family", i.e. not City Navigator/Select/MetroGuide, it can be turned on and off independently of other maps in the GPSR.

I'm afraid I don't know that model very well. If it is a mapping GPS, then definitely, it should work. I seem to recall it doesn't have much memory so it may not be a mapping product after all.

The GPS 3+ was the first Garmin I had. It has 1.44Mb of user memory into which maps (I used European R&R) can be uploaded. It deosn't support auto-routing or re-routing.

In that case I'm sure the map will work just fine. Its only ~120k in size so it won't even take up too much of the memory.

Try experimenting with the "levels" in the IMG file and you should be able to make the POIs only appear at certain zoom levels. _________________ Gone fishing!

I'm not directly familiar with the c320, but I've just looked at the c320 page on the Garmin website. If I understand correctly it comes with a 128mb SD card, and a copy of City Select on CD? If so, you've probably already downloaded some maps to the c320 (I'm assuming you actually have the unit and have used it already). Well, the POI map of speedcameras is just "another map". You'll need to download all the maps you've already done again, plus, select the POI map as well. Then the whole lot gets sent to the c320 as a single map set.
If you do this, I'd love to see a 3D screenshot of an up-coming camera POI.
