Just a word of warning, and a caveat that the following results may not be the same for everyone, but I felt a heads-up was needed.
A couple of weeks ago, I updated to the latest ROM version on HPs website for the 6340, it came with a stack of bug fixes, including (sorely needed) improvments and fixes to the GSM firmware. I duly downloaded and updated and restored.
It's true that overall my device is performing better, but all my bluetooth peripherals have ceased to communicate with the iPaq. My SonyEricsson HBH-65 BT Headset, no longer found by the iPaq, same goes for my Fortuna BT ClipOn GPS receiver.
Both of these were used on a daily basis until that time. HP are coming to retrieve the iPaq tomorrow to check for broken stuff. There were about 7 BT bugfixes in the latest ROM Update, I'm guess that something became FUBAR as a result of the ROM update.
I'd love to hear from anyone who has successfully upgraded to the latest version (.36 release dated 16th March 2005) with no issues. Or even if you did and it broke like mine, to reassure me that I'm not a solitary case.
For those that are considering the update.... caveat emptor, although mine screwed up, yours may not.....

I upgraded my 6315 to 1.0.38 and there are not BT issues, rather some improvement with the wakeup behaviour when a BT headset is connected. I noticed it freezed from time to time when there are too many items on the today screen (lots of appointments etc) causing a vertical scrollbar. Go figure
From what I read on the web these machines seem to be hit and miss - some work perfectly, some don't. It's a pity - the concept itself is brilliant, the implementation is, uhm, improvable. _________________ Lutz
I'm totally happy with the latest ROM version. As well as using BT to my GPS, I use a Parrot CK3000 BT handsfree kit in the car.
Previously the BT audio profile failed to send to send the audio directions to the handsfree kit, it would mute but no sound. (Lutz did mention listening to MP3s instead of CD or radio as a workaround).
Now I find the BT connectivity of handsfree, audio, and GPS far more reliable (hasn't failed yet!) and my IPAQ will mute the car stereo to give me directions. _________________ IPAQ 6365, Fortuna BT Clip-on, Parrot CK3000, TomTom 3 (with GPS driver 3.07)
