|
|
Ive followed the flow chart to Update UK Safety Cameras.
Deleted old and D/loaded new. Opened the Zip file/All files but I do
not have POCKETGPS_UK_SC.XLS any where in the files.
Can somebody tell me what I'm doing wrong or point me
in the right direction.
Thanks

Thanks for quick response.. I followed the flow chart which is why I came got in a mess. So I take it I need to get each XLS file from the Safety Cam Site... Can you point me in the right direction what to do with these files once I have them. ? At the moment completely baffled by various cross references and different D/Loads.. I'm a newbie to the GPS world so I'm a bit cautious to what I need to do.
Thanks

Thanks Richard.. That was the original path I had taken.. I dont get
the same screen dumps as those shown... I think I will just live
with the CoPilot installation until I'm a bit more familiar with what I'm doing.
Thanks Again

|

I have updated the speed camera database as shown, and changed all the settings on Co-Pilot to alert anything "Custom" on route for 3 miles etc. But it still doesn't show or alert any cameras?
Any ideas?
The only thing I did differently from the installation instructions was to download (using the wizard) straight to the storage card, instead of my PC C:\drive , would this make a difference?
regards

Hi Rob
Copilot can be a bit choosy about anouncing speed cameras! Have you upgraded to version 5.0.1.48 ? I've found this version is much more reliable for announcements. If you have then make sure the slider on the POI options page is set one mark from the left. Other people have said that on it's default position of completely left it will not announce anything. Also the slider goes back to this default position everytime you use the options screen so you have to set it again each time you use the Options menu.
Otherwise if you are on the older 5.0.1.30 version I found the slider worked best at 3 marks from the left but this was not as reliable as version .48.
Hope this helps |

Thanks Bigwig, yeah I've got .48 I'll try 2 and 3 points from the left to see if that helps.
cheers

Having the slider exactly on the left (on route) picks up nothing. One place from the left works well as far as I can tell. I think more than one point from the left and you run the risk of picking up speed cameras on nearby roads. |

Also how many miles do you set it from POI's, it says 3 on the instructions, but this seems a bit far?
Sorry, another question, when a Gatso pop's up, it has two icons, a flag thing and a "+" sign, which one do I press, or do I not press anything? |

There is a single .csv (rather than .xls) file which can be imported directly - CoPilot recognises .csv files too. |

I use 0.2 miles ahead for every day driving and 0.5 miles ahead if I'm doing a trip I know has speed cameras where I'll be doing 70mph (eg A14). Both settings seem to work well with the .48 update.

The red X button or just pressing nothing gets you back to the map or safety screen you were on.
The "Flag +" botton adds the point of interest to your trip. Not very useful for speed cameras but if you were out driving and low on fuel you could set it to warn you of petrol stations within a couple of miles (set the slider over the right side - near route). Then it would pop up when it found one and you could add it as a stop to your trip and get it to give you directions there. Never used it like that myself but it could be useful. |

Ah right, thanks Bigwig, that explains why this morning when I pressed "+" it tried to re-route me back past the speed camera!

Can anyone tell me how to get just Speed Camera alerts without entering a destination?
I have tried using Navigation & Guidance modes with the POI alerts switched on but nothing. It either announces every turn to my journey, plus the POI's (scameras) or if I don't put in a journey it doesn't announce anything.
Is there any setting where I can get it to announce POI's whilst just driving around not on a specific journey? |
