Anyone here know how to do a cold reset on the 510 (as against pushing in the recess at the top or turning on and off the battery at the back)? I've been told it can help on those odd occasions when you can't get a fix for ages. |

It sounds like you are mixing up two different kinds of "cold reset". - The above actions cold reset the PDA. To affect the GPS fix times, you would need to "Cold Start" the GPS reciever, which the above will not do. I don't know if you can cold start the GPS on the 510. Can anyone help? |

I have been using the 510 for about six months now and have encountered the same problem from time to time. There is nothing that you can really do about it other than instal an external ariel which is what I now have, and it now rarely happens to me. Best of Luck |

Hmm - I tried that but it did the same as just pushing in the reset button without holding down the power button. Apparently there is a combination of buttons on the 650 and I assume that there is also a combination of buttons for the 510. |

I have this problem and unfortently it seems to become more and more frequent.
I also have an external arial but it does not help. They way I solve it is to push the Battery Switch hidden on the back of the 510. Then it does a cold start and reloads the system, |

I have not had that problem, I use the power button on the top right row of buttons on the front to put the GPS in standby mode, this allows when turned on the finding of the signal way faster. I keep the unit plugged in when it in the house not in use. I never use the hard battery off button on the back, in fact I think maybe once. This will cause the unit to take forever to get a signal (well longest for me is about 3 mins) |
