Not sure where best to ask this but I wanted to know how most people go about playing MP3's whilst navigating. Obviously you can just set it playing in the PocketPC's MP3 player but then once in Navigator you won't have any control over it for say skipping tracks or volume. I'm sure many people must listen to MP3's while they navigate, so what's the best way to go about it? |

you can assign a hardware key to Media Player. within Media Player you have your own key assignments. Leave one key open, and use that to switch back to TomTom. _________________ Lutz

Good suggestion, I just tried it out, but when you go back to navigator from the MP3 player, it loads navigator up from fresh (ie not where you last left it) so I'm presuming it'd cancel the current journey and would have to be replanned. How could you stop this? |

Ah, you're right - this is a bug in TomTom Navigator 3. It is not conformant to the Microsof tguidelines which demand that only one instance of any program can be running at any one time. But TomTom ignored that, and you can run multiple TTN3 at the same time (which is pretty pointless anyway)
So instead you will need to assign the free hardware key to a task manager, and then spend another tap to select TomTom from the list. _________________ Lutz

Damn, cheers for coming up with an alternative solution. The main thing that would of been useful is it all could of been done with buttons (not touching the screen), I guess I'll give it a try though, I want to be able to listen to music while I navigate so I'm going to have to do it one way or another. If anyone has any other suggestions don't hesitate to share. |

With my 2210 I find that if I start Windows Media Player and then TomTom, the toggle button actually works WMP even while TomTom is on top - so I can skip tracks forward and back and turn volume up and down with it. Not quite sure why it works - the commands are assigned in TomTom to functions like zoom in and out on the map - but it does. _________________ Barry Davies

Sorry to keep replying but I just tried that and for some reason the toggle button doesnt work in WMP. I would of thought it would be left and right for tracks and up and down for volume or something but it just doesn't do anything, I don't see how it can be set up in WMP as there is no option for assigning keys. What's wrong?
P.S: I'm using a Mio 168 |

In my TT3.07 a button is directly linked to the application and it does not start a second version, it just pulls the current version to the front if it is already running.
Are you sure that the button is directly linked to the TomTom executable file (1.51MB) and not a shortcut or wizard etc? |

Has this been fixed in V5? Still waiting for an answer to the same question posted in the V5 review some time back. |
