Anyone know why TT sometimes says 'turn left at the roundabout, 1st exit', but more often than not says 'cross the roundabout, 1st exit'? This happens even when the 1st exit is clearly a left turn, so you're not crossing it at all. Not a major problem but a bit misleading when you're relying on the voice prompts.

Could it be that you "cross the roundabout" if you're staying on the same road, but "turn left at the roundabout" if you're changing roads? As I don't only rely on the voice prompts, I'm afraid I've never actually noticed it.

When I approach a roundabout near my home, TT3 says "Cross the roundabout, take the fifth exit", which would actually get me back to the first exit, i.e. TT3 would take me all the way round the roundabout if I wasn't keeping an eye on the display!

in my experience you get

"turn left" or "turn right" if the the exit is basically at or near 90 or 270 degrees to the entrance you make tothe roundabout

you get "cross the roundabout" when the turning is not exactly left or right.

On two roundabouts recently TT says "keep right then cross r'bt 2nd exit" Look at the map and it is sending me the wrong side of the island entering the roundabout, the first exit is where I should have come onto the roundabout, and the second one is where I want to go, actually the first exit. This is OK when I know where I am but what;s happening here?

Jon49: I wish I knew! I also have consistently experienced on one roundabout TT3 telling me to "take fifth exit" which would put me back on the motorway I've just left, only going back to where I just came from. Most helpful! Don't rely on voice guidance alone with TT, you'll wind up in some funny situations. I also find that TT3 will sometimes doggedly try to take the long way round (which is NOT the fastest) until one drops in a forced waypoint, or throws in a block. A good system, but still has some odd glitches.

I think the truth of the matter is that it's still not perfect.

It always pays to give a quick glance at the map to see for yourself, then make your own mind up. To quote another 'yours is the final decision'.
