Navigon Transonic

As a GPS Virgin I have just purchased the Navigon Transonic from Makro and, up to know, everything appears fine.
I initially had a problem with the activation code provided, via the web, from Navigon but a quick e mail to Navigon resulted in a new activation code being e mailed from Germany.
It is early days yet but, for £199 plus VAT, I am not expecting Garmin performance.
In common with others I have not been able to sort out the ActivSync. Any ideas and what is it's advantage anyway?
