I'm pretty happy with my BT - when I have had problems I think they are usually related to my general lack of understanding of managing BT.
Still - I too would like to know of other options _________________ iPAQ1940, TT3 TT Bluetooth GPS, Memory-Map OS2004 Ver. 4.4.0, Delorme Earthmate Blue Logger. |

You certainly don't have to use bluetooth. There are many options for GPS.
I have a wired GPS 'mouse' which plugs into the activesync port via the TomTom car cradle.
I used to have a GPS reciever which plugged into the CF port in my pocket PC.
You can also get ones which plug into the SD port.
I've yet to discover any which communicate via infra red or Wi-Fi :P |

I have used an Ipaq 1940 with TT3 & TTBT receiver for over a year and have found it to work very well.
Unfortunately over a period of a few days my BT receiver went up in smoke, in the car cradle, and I managed to break the screen on my Ipaq so I bought a TTGo which I am very happy with.
But to return to the main point I had no real problems with the 1940 & BT and with the postcode tool, I know this has gone now, I found this to be an excellent system.
I think a lot of the BT problems were with the 2210

I used the Tom TOM receiver, came bundled with the 1940 and TT3.
I have also got a Polstar Bluetooth GPS from ebay, the one there has been a lot of discussion about and this also seems to work when I test it, but I have never used this is anger.

Houly,
I too have a 1940 with Bluetooth, working fine for about a year.
I don't think you have any other option with a 1940 ...
1) No CF slot, so cannot use CF BT cards
2) Most SD BT cards don't come with memory, so where to put maps ?
3) Serial (wired) not an option as sync port not a serial connection ?
I use a fortuna clip-on, from expansys & have had no problems, other than initial setup, where coms port shifted from COM8 to COM5 (TomTom gps responsible, so uninstalled once & OK) |
