We've completed the review of the Leadtek 9532. There really isn't much difference between the 9531 and 9532 apart from the 9532 supporting SiRF II.

Have recently purchased this item
being used with Ipaq 5450

Cant get a signal on the GPS
Have tried a combination of ports a protocol
I understand it should be com 1
it is used with Tom tom

I have taken tom tom off the machine and done a hard reset
Installed leadtek's own software, still no signal
Have a flashing green light on Gps unit

Any help would be appreciated

It should work with "TomTom Navigator GPS" and "Serial cable on COM1:"

It sounds as if you've got power through the cigarette lighter plug, which is required for a wired GPS. You need to disable any drivers for plug in keyboards, as they sit on the serial port.


If those two things don't get you working, there's a couple of other possibilities that are reasonably likely. One is that the GPS isn't set to NMEA 4800bps - in which case you may need to try to 'find' it with the likes of Leadtek Navigator.

The other possibility is that you've got the wrong connecting lead. Some of the other Pocket PCs, such as the XDA, use the same 22 pin connector as modern iPAQs, but the serial port pins are connected differently.

I have been using Leadtek Navigator with no joy

I do not use any other devices with the Ipaq so I can only presume the lead is wrong, even though it charges the Ipaq and green light on GPS

Who Knows

I will let you know how it goes with a new lead

If you've tried Leadtek Navigator, then it's worth trying all the different serial port speeds, and SiRF binary mode as well as NMEA. If none of those work, then it's probably a hardware issue - the most likely being that you've got the wrong connection lead.
