Is it possible to get the direction your traveling to be the long direction on the screen like the PDAs have?

Apparently not, however if you have a look here:

you'll see that Navman themselves seem to have achieved it!

Still can't work out how though.

You can, but, you have to play with the boot loader, not recommended, I've done it developing canal route maps, but have aweful problems with re-aligning bitmap images
