Hola soypp123,
On TomTom Navigator, if you go to 'File' and 'About' when you are in Map mode this should tell you the version number and also the year that the data was produced.
Hope this helps.
¡Buena suerte!

When I do "File", About" on my TomTom Navigator install (in map mode) I get : 3.01 (409).
Does "409" mean "2004, September" ?
Regards,
Stuart. |

It seems that the ver. displayed is the program and build version, not the map data version.
Am I wrong?

It's program version and (program) build. I don't know of any way to access the map version in Navigator 3 short of looking at the third line of the .pna file in the map folder.
In Navigator 2004 HP Edition and other TomTom "common platform" software then, from memory, there's an easier way of accessing map version data. However, I've got Navigator 3 installed on the iPAQ to my right at the moment, and I'm not going to change it to 2004 HP Edition just to check!

by opening in notepad the .pna file, i know the release of my map is ver 290, while my friend TomTomGo map is ver 390. Sneaking into Spanish forums, seems that 390 is the most advanced release for Spain maps. Dont know about other countries though.
Best Regards |

390 is not a release number. It is the number of the map compilation, and a higher number does not necessarily mean that map cut is better. Quite contrary, we have seen a number of cases where newer map cuts had disastrous routing issues and map display errors.
Having said that, 390 seems to be relatively stable. But we all hope for a new cut with the CeBit announcements. _________________ Lutz

not withstandig the posibility of errors, a newer compilation (higher number?) should be made from fresher data. or...is there other rationale at TomTom headquarter that evades my understanding?
thanks and best regards
PS:hoping also for a fresher cut at Cebit |

Users may have reported routing errors, TomTom have then tweaked the calculation formulae, only to make it worse etc... _________________ Lutz

but the calculation formulae should be part of the program, changing only in new PROGRAM RELEASES (3.0, 3.01, 3.07...) and not in new DATA releases (290,314,390...).
Or, is the routing algorithm included in the map (not Program) files?
mmm, interesting! 8O |
