The cameras on the M27 and M3 were installed as part of the ramp metering pilot scheme for the purpose of measuring journey time through the junctions. The are not used for speeding prosecutions, however the company providing the ANPR is the same company providing the engine behind SPECS. They are to be decommisioned in the near future.

Hope this helps clarify things.

There ARE 2 SPECS cameras in the Saltash tunnel - one at either end. To this date, no prosecutions have been made as far as i am aware.

many people have been caught and fined for charging through the saltash tunnel. its a cheeky one, cos there aint much to warn you apart from a sign about 1/2 a mile away from the entrance of the tunnel.

it dont look like there are any specs cams on the m27, thank Censored, after doing a bit of digging around. I only found this forum as I drove back from brighton and noticed one set of these things after the a27 40mph average section.

can stop sweatin' now!

The SPEC speed camaras on the A27 roadworks are switched on according to the local radio in the area. There are are also a new set of SPEC camaras on the M27 between Portsmouth and Fareham which were installed at the weekend. They will be on befoe long.

Am I alone in seeing the irony in the police admitting that having to stick to the speed limits caused chaos? Laughing

Thread locked - it's a real shame to resurrect a thread so old.
