Map view in TomTom whats it for??

Can anyone give me a practical overview of uses for the map section of TomTom Navigator or does anyone have any documentation on this subject. The help file I have appears useless as does the TT website.

Map view is important when you are looking for a particular location. For example TomTom doesn't have the house number but you know it's at the light left bend of the road etc. So you can find the road, identify the bend, tap it and then say "navigate here"

I use it for adding and manipulating POIs, checking traffic information (for those that have TomTom Traffic, there's a Traffic view, which is very similar to the map view, but has traffic details overlaid), stepping through planned routes a step at a time to see where I'm being sent - all manner of uses.

When I'm interacting with TomTom Navigator, I'm usually in the map view.
