If anyone is interested I just brought a standard 5M Modem extension lead with Male & female RJ11 sockets from PC World for £5.99. This works perfectley and allowed me to try various positions for my Leadtek 9532 until I found the best position within the car.

5m is a lot of wire to be hanging around.
There are now retractable RJ11 extension cable on a reel available so it is better to use this if you can find one (from computer shop). _________________ Pc-Mobile

That's great to know it works. Must admit I was doing some calculatiosn in my car, and 5m is a long cable. Do they do any 1m or 2m cables ? |

Hi Dave,
I couldn't find any at the PC World I was looking in but I am sure it is possible to get a shorter one, having said that it has made no difference to the signal whatsoever. I have a new shape Mondeo and have been experiencing some strange problems with the signal. I tried the 9532 on the roof for a couple of journeys and it was fine so the issue was obviously with the heated windscreen. The rear of the car was not too much better as I have an estate and the side and rear windows are near vertical. After a fair bit of experimenting I found the best position was to the very left side of the dashboard, the receiver is actually sitting right underneath my tax disk holder and so far I have had the best results here. I did have the 9532 at on the drivers side of the dashboard where there is a gap in the heated element of the windscreen but I now wonder whether the signal was being effected by the electronics on that side of the car?
