|
|
Guys,
Yesterday I asked about the POI file. My mistake! What I should have asked was where are the Favourites installed? I have had to re-install TT3 but have lost my Favourites. I can retrieve files from my back-up but need to know which one. Hopefully, I can just replace one file with another.
Regards

Those are in the cfg file.
Take it as a lesson, and move your favourites to a separate POI file, call it MyFavourites.OV2 or whatever. That way they don't get lost that easily. _________________ Lutz

As Lutz says, they're in the .cfg files. In Navigator 3, they're in \My Documents\TomTom Navigator Settings.

Getting rid of the 2 .cfg files is a good way to get rid of all the recent destination places that build up too, you will lose all the favourite files as well. I keep a back up of those files with just my address in the favourite folder (Home), and replace them every now and then to clean things up. This has been asked before "how to get rid of recent destination places" but have not seen any replies so thought it would be a good time to post it |

Thanks guys,
After all that, I restored the appropriate files only to find that they also didn't contain my favourites. I must have backed up the empty files! Still, I've learnt something!
Cheers,

Hi,
On a similar topic, is there any way of deleting one or more Itineraries?
I have some that are permanenetly useful, but several local ones I put in when testing, and would like to get rid of, but don't want to wipe the lot and start again which seems the only option as described in this thread?
Thanks

The other option is to relax and live with them. They will fall off the list over time. _________________ Lutz

Itineraries are kept in separate files - one per itinerary. You can delete those with a File Manager, such as the built in one or Resco Explorer 2003.

true - that's the "\itn" folder that TomTom creates in the root of the device (not a good place by the way)
so please ignore my previous comment. _________________ Lutz

Hi Lutz,
Thanks for replies,

Does this imply that there is a limit to the number of itineraries? If so what logic goes TT apply when removing them, is it FIFO, or least often used, or what?

I was plain wrong. I thought it's the same as favourites. (it's not)
The limit probably is the available space in RAM... _________________ Lutz

Hi Lutz,
Thanks for clarification. I will use File Explorer to delete the ones I don't want
