I wonder if they ever tested their software at all with GB data? Do they have Alpha and Beta testers based physically in the UK?

You managed to get thorugh on the 'phone? I called around 12:30 today and it just rang and rang until the line dropped. So I sent a fax instead. Not sure whether my problem gets sorted any quicker. Will keep you posted. |

Be glad the UK version of TomTom has postcodes, even if it does not work as intended. The Nordic version of the program is a total disaster. No postcode serch what so ever and a program that directs the driver to drive on the wrong side of roads and to take roundabouts in wrong direction. If they don't do something soon and come out with a fix and/or start to answer e-mails, i'm going to ask for a refund. There are plenty of other alternatives to this beta software. Think about it, we are paying them to do the beta testing. Unbelievable.

Hi Mark R Penn,
Thanks for the info, its good to know that the postcode feature is being looked at (and hopefully soon to be sorted).
Regards,

OK, got fed up waiting, and phoned them. A couple of things that I found out:
1) They have an (unspecified) problem replying to e-mails at present, but are VERY helpful (and quick) on the phone.
2) They ARE aware of problems with postcode searching in the UK (I didn't ask about other countries), and are investigating. Although he didn't say so explicitly, the guy implied that they do intend to fix the problem, it's just they're not too sure how to yet. In other words I think they are not yet sure if it's a bug preventing it from working the way they intended, if the data is deficient, or if the way they intended is simply wrong!
Well, I suppose if nothing else it's good to get an acknowledgement that it's not how it should be. _________________ If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice. |

Yes, that's exactly what it says on their web site as well.
I've e-mailed them asking exactly how I make it work as described. Needless to say I've had no answer. _________________ If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice. |

Interestingly, in the 'What's New' on the TTN2 CD readme.htm, it states:
"Postal Codes:
You can now use a postal code as a short-cut for entering a city name; In Great Britain, streets now also have a postal code prefix" |

There have been quite a few posts about this subject in the forum. If you do a search of the Navigator 2 forum on postcode you will be able to read up about the postcode search 'feature'.
Basically, you enter the first 3 characters of the postcode in the street field, after you have entered the city, and streets with matching postcodes are listed (sometimes). It's not what you might expect.
