|

Hi Guys,
Hope someone can help me ! I recently bought The Ipaq 1710 Tom Tom pack reviewd on here recently. So far i am very pleased with it, I only require a bsic set up and had a limited budget to work on !
I would like to transfer my To Tom sofrtware from the 128mb card supplied to a 512mb card I have. However when I copy the card over the software starts but then comes up with a " no maps available error.
I am obviously doing someting simple wrong, can any one tell me in "simpletons" how to did this properly ?
Thanks in advance for any help ! |

How are you copying the card? It should be as simple as copying the entire contemts of the original card to a new card either via Active Sync (verrryyy slooow) or using a Card Reader. _________________ Darren Griffin |

hi darren,
I have tried copying this via a USB2 card reader writer, all seems to compare well with the original card which works all well !
But when I replace with the copied version the tom tom starts but then says no maps are available even tho the maps appear to have copied to the card. I think it must be possible to copy the card as the reviewer of this package mentioned it.
I am copying by copying the original card contents over to the PC and the copying back onto the new memory card !
Are their any hidden files maybe that arnt getting copied across ?
Sorry to be a pain but I am pretty new to all this.

Hmm, I can't help with the issue itself, but you could re-install to the new card using the CD's. _________________ Darren Griffin |

I had a similar issue with my daughters 1710. One SD worked fine - mine( a x32 256Meg SD), but the older one she had (intergral 256Meg) it would just not work, even loading from the CD, yet it worked perfectly well in my 2210. Very strange.....
You should be able to copy all contents straight from a card to the PC and back to another card and I have done a couple of times without problems. Of course you have to ensure the folders are exactly the same.
The only solution I found was to buy another SD card.

Thanks for all your replies guys !
Have now managed to get this sorted ! Dont know how I did it as I had already tried twice using the same method ! Third time lucky again using same method !
Thats computers for you ! I have also managed to download and install the safety cameras which seemed pretty easy !
I would just like to add that I am well impressed with this package ( the same one you reviewed ) What a bargain it is and good value for money !
I realise its pretty basic and some more experianced members are not impressed by the missing features, but it suits me !
When I become more expert who knows I will maybe need someting a bit more complex and up market.
Thanks for all the good work.

It's a good package. FWIW aside from PostCode and Traffic functionality it does all that I need and I have it installed on one of my PDA's and I use it as my main Nav app now. _________________ Darren Griffin |
