Hi guys
Need a little help from smarter user than myself please.
Have used active sync to restore a backup. Everything seems to go according to instructions, got a connection through active sync, selecting tools-backup and restore etc. I get the progress graphic to show it s actually restoring. I get the tone and the display measge to say it is complete and to follow manfacturers reset. it is here where the process comes to a stop. I disconnect the Ipac 2210 from the cradle, switch it off, and soft reset it from the recessed buton on the back. The usual soft reset screen appears and the progress bar tracks across the screen as you would expect with the red 1.10 in the bottom of the screen. But after the progrss bar completes it track nothing else happens. The screen freeze s and not even the power button has any effect. Ive tried a soft and a hard reset which recovers the operating system. but when i retry the restore process, the result is always the same. Am i doing something wrong? Is my ipac 2210 faulty? Has any one encountered the problem please help.

Try not switching it off before the soft reset I havn't heard of that bit before. I just take it out of the cradle and press the soft reset. |

ActiveSync's restore feature is widely regarded as garbage - I think this may be what you're seeing here.
Far better is the iPAQ Backup software built into your iPAQ - and better still is upgrading it to the latest version of Sprite Backup via the reduced price offer for iPAQ owners.
As it is, ActiveSync is asking you to soft reset after the restore. If that doesn't work, there's probably little you can do other than hard reset and reinstall everything from scratch. Your PDA data will be synchronised from Outlook, and much of your software will be in ActiveSync's Add/Remove Programs feature, so this isn't as awful as it may sound.
If you had TomTom Navigator installed, it may be the same problem that some find with iPAQ Backup and older versions of Sprite Backup deadlocking on ttbtdev.dll - though I can't think of a way to work round that with an ActiveSync restore.
