newbie postcode question

I have been using the tom tom go, and now have the navman 510
Its a little less user friendly, but sligtly more sophisticated i think

Anyway, I set up the postcodes from this site on the tomtom go without problems. I have also set up the speed cams on the navman without probs, using the .csv files

I would like to know if you can use the postcode poi's on the navman 510. I noticed they are only in .ov2 format. How do I get around it?
I used POI format conversion software, but it said there where too many entries in the file, the limit was 1500(0) i think.

Anyone know a simple step by step guide?

I can't give you a step-by-step guide other than to use POIConverter v3 which can be downloaded from the downloads page. Open the ov2 file in the converter then save it as an AutoRoute.csv file. then follow instructions as for the safety cameras.

If you say which files you want to use I will have a go at converting them for you.

I have tried to do this myself on the iCN 510 but despite trying many different ways including sending them down as one big file, splitting them up into several small files, just doing my local area etc. I could not get a satisfactory result.

The Navman has a POI compiler built into the desktop program that converts the csv files into its own format. I think there must be a limit to the size because it continuously locked up on me. When I finally got the file small enough for the compiler I found that the large number of postcodes in a town meant that the map was covered in POI icons. You could hardly see the roads in some places. Even not specifying a bmp file made the Navman assign a "default" icon so that didn't help. I was going to try entering a blank icon to see it that worked but ran out of time and enthusiasm. It also slowed things down quite a bit.

My experience suggests that it is not really worth it on the Navman. Unless of course you find a way round it! (Please let us know if you do)
