Hi, Im not entirely sure about why this happens, but it does it on all TTGs, I think it may be a bug in the software. Maybe there will be an update soon.

I believe, that it will plan the route from A to B for you. It will then realise that you're not at point A yet, so will direct you from the current position to point A, to then start your route to point B.

You can look at the route instructions through the menu. Shows you a list of the instructions. You can also get to the route overview and also browse the map etc. Can't remember where it all is in the menu, but its there.

The "cure" for this is to plan from current location to B, and then tell it to go via A.

You can then look at the A to B bit of the route.

I don't think it's a bug - all TTG is doing is assuming that during your journey from A to B it has been switched off, or lost the sats, and then procedes to recalculate the route. This is what is does by default if you go 'off route'.

It would need a function switch in the Plan from A-B mode to turn off the normal tracking process, something that TomTom hadn't thought necessary.

How can this not be a bug? As it stands, the feature doesn't work unless you hide away from those pesky satellites. If TomTom didn't think it necessary to override the GPS tracking while it displays the planned route, you could argue that it's a "design error" rather than a "coding error" but that doesn't stop it being a bug.

Regards,
Mark.

Firstly apologies for the double posting.

Surely, if the TTG does what TomTom designed it to do, it's not a bug but a lack of understanding of what users might want to do.

If using A-B in a vehicle, either hand over aerial or unplugging external, you might be able to achieve the required result. Albeit with incovenience.

I think it isnt technically a "bug" but it is an oversight by Tomtom. It re-routes automatically which is a great feature, but when using the A-B function this re-routing should be turned off, it isnt, and thats why no one can use it properly, or as they would like.

There are so many things we are all wishing for when it comes to the update, Mytomtomgo mention a huge list of very valid points. I just hope TT are listening!! Wink

I would guess that their thinking would be that you would not be 'planning a route' while out and about.

But I agree that it would be a better scenario, especially if it held in memory any route that was in progress. (Used only in a layby, of course)!!

I know what you mean, but my TTG picks up satellites indoors sometimes with no access to the sky! So the A-B function wouldnt even work when inside for me.
