Just purchased both the TDK BluePaq BT jacket and the Emtac BTGPS for my iPaq 3635. The iPaq will recognize the Emtac device, but not the type (mobile phone, gps,...). It will even 'pair' the device, but when you hit REFRESH on the iPaq BlueTooth settings menu an error shows up : 'Failed retrieving services from remote device'.
All the latest ROMpaqs from HP/Compaq have been installed, I use PPC2002.
I would be happy to receive any hints or help. |

Hi flippodc,
I was beginning to think I was the only one on earth that used the Bluepaq.
I had this problem with 3850 but I did get to give me the services, I just want to check that you are not using the wizards to pair? I just put the default passkey in then use 'add devices', when it identifies 'Emtac' then refresh and it should bring up the serial port. If you try this and it doesn't work then my next question would be have you got a fix when you try to pair and discover services ?
Please feel free to post some more if this doesn't help or need other assistance as I have used the Bluepaq for over a year now and know some of its oddities.
Regards,
B |

Strangely enough I was thinking of getting either the Compaq or TDK Bluetooth jacket for my 3850. Perhaps I should hold off ? |

Dave,
My experience with the Bluepaq has been mixed but mostly good (maybe I am just tolerant!). I would be glad to email you my experiences and the things you should consider before purchasing it. Let me know if this would be helpful and I will be happy to oblige. Great site by the way, its a significant reason as to why I got into GPS technology !!!!
Kind regards,

This is the fix : new rompaq flash for the BluePaq.
Too bad it is not on the device, and especially sad it is not easy to find even on the manufacturers website...
Thanks for yr assistance ! |

Had similar problems !
I have a Compaq 3630 with TDK BT Jacket, which worked fine connecting to my mobile phone.
When I purchased a Socket BT GPS it took me nearly two days to get the thing to connect, I could pair the devices, but could not connect to the Com port. Following a total reinstallation of all the software I finally thought of looking on the TDK website for the up to date drivers, which took some looking for, but it finally worked!!!
The information with the socket BT GPS and on the TDK website is poor, I tried emailing TDK several times but no reply.
Now that I have the correct drivers installed everything is working fine, it is good to know I wasn't the only person having a hard time! |
