Some of you may already have picked up on a few comments I've made here and there in the forums or via email. For the past several weeks I have been re-designing the website to bring us several new features.
The first being, people are getting heavily lost in the left hand menu for reviews/articles, and we ourselves are having major trouble finding our articles listed here as there are just far too many, so we will be reducing this menu over weeks to come in a three phase approach.
Phase 1 will commence tonight from 8pm, and will involve reducing this menu structure and putting a completely new graphical review menu in place, which will help channel people to products as you'll see a picture of each product. This will cut down the menu and eventually help speed up the website a little in peak times. The same will also be attempted with the forum tonight.
Unfortunately this will mean some outage with either a small amount of down time (up to an hour), or you will find pages not loading correctly in the interim whilst we are performing this work. Unfortunately this is unavoidable as there are over 300 pages to change on the website, these have all been changed offline and tested on our preview site, and hopefully it's just a matter of uploading the changes, but with a change as big as this something might go wrong, so please bear with us whilst we make changes tonight. If you experience difficulties getting to the website, please try again in an hours time.
Phase two and three will commence in a few weeks time which should then see a complete removal of the left hand menu system to a new graphical one and will not be as disruptive as tonights outage. There will be very little speed increase though from tonights changes, this will really only be seen in a few weeks time.
We hope you like the changes and it makes it easier on the eye to find reviews, and if the changes are successfull tonight, you'll see a new menu structure directly underneath our logo at the top of each page. |

I was planning on doing it at some ungodly hour, but then decided that if anything went wrong, I would probably not be in a position to fix it, so unfortunately tonight it is. |

Glad to say the updates went according to plan, no major issues, now for a nice cold pint! Some of you may not notice the changes immediately, it depends on how much cache you have set on your web browser, and whether your ISP does local caching of pages visited. For those who do see the changes (nothing major), but a new top menu has been added like below.

This will direct you to a new graphical review section which looks something like this.

If you don't see the new menu above, try and press CTRL+F5 in Internet Explorer to force your cache to reload the page from the server. Failing that, to preview the new menu review menu system, click the picture above. |

Dave, put the below in the top of the "header" .asp document, if you have such one. This will make ALL browsers re-request the page on every visit. Please, do not change the ordering of these lines, as this is the biggest trick in these lines:
'### PASTE START ###
Response.Buffer = True
'Eliminate browser and proxy caching
Response.Expires = -1
Response.Expiresabsolute = Now() - 2
Response.AddHeader "pragma","no-cache"
Response.AddHeader "cache-control","private"
Response.CacheControl = "no-cache"
'### PASTE END ###
BTW, you guys are doing a damn good job here, keep up the good work.
Regards,
Lars Houmark
