I can not help you with info. on roadangel but I can tell you that I have myself bought a Dell X50v and TomTom Nav. 3 because I have read articles and forum topics about them working fine together without a problem.
Hope this helps |

Holux don't offer a specific cable for the Dell X50V as yet although you may want to enwuire if they intend making one. I don't know the X50V but it would need to have serial port functionality on the sync port for this to work.
See http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/road-angel-cable.php .
Alternatively if it does support serial comms, then all you would need is a Dell X50v to 9 Pin serial cable, a null modem adapter and a 9 Pin serial to Road Angel cable (this may come with the RA). _________________ Darren Griffin |

Thanks for the reply, ok now please keep with on this.
So am i correct in saying i order the serial connection lead for road angel, plug that into a null modem adapter (what does this do btw?) and finally plug from the null into a 9pin serial to pda plug cable which i guess i buy from dell. (excuse how thick i am!)
And then wola! tomtom should in theory pic up the mapping data to guide me via gps!
Thanks, let me no if im correct on the interpretation.
Cheers, john. |

You understand it correctly. The NULL Modem Adapter (DB9 Male) converts the pins from the DB9 Female Serial Connectors on each cable so they connect to each other with the correct pin assignments.
All this assumes that the Dell X50v has Serial Support on its Sync Connector of course although a quick Google suggests that it does. Check with Dell for the correct Serial cable.
Read the advice in the review regards the different versions of the Road Angel to ensure you get the correct RA Cable and then follow the instructions to connect it all up _________________ Darren Griffin |

I do not think Dell will ever release a serial cable for X50.
If they intended to do so it would have been released with the X50 at the same time.
Third party serila cable will take some time.
You best solution is bluetooth adapter which we have recently released.
You need a serial>BT adapter from http://pc-mobile.net/bta.htm.
The one you need is G9BTA.
You also need a PC serial cable from Blackspot.
Connect the 2 together and X50 can access the GPS via BT. _________________ Pc-Mobile
