I've been reading all the threads regarding problem SD cards. I currently use a Scandisk which probably explains why the performance of TT3 is below par so have ordered a 256 Lexar. My question is whether I can copy the contents of my Scandisk card onto the Lexar card. This would save a lot of time as opposed to reinstalling TT3, Checkpoint, POI's etc onto the new card. What do you think? |

yes, that will work. Make sure your file manager does not hide any files. _________________ Lutz

I did similar, copying all my TomTom files to a new Lexar card. I formatted it with Pocket Mechanic first though (FAT32, 1K cluster).
Works fine. |

What's the advantage in formatting it like that? |

Uh, that's black magic.
But since the files on that SD tend to be big, and rarely get written to, the cluster size doesn't matter much.
There are hundreds of comparisons out there with different cluster sizes and route calculation times, but the real difference is too marginal to make the effor worth while. _________________ Lutz

Thanks for the advice. Successfully copied file across from old Scandisk card to Lexar 256mb card. Definitley faster with the new card. |
