|
|
It may seem starnge, but I can't seem to turn 'bluetooth' off on my iPAQ.
I disable bluetooth both the 'Wireless' screen and in the 'Blutooth Manager', but it seems to turn itself on again within a few seconds.
I have had a look at the wholly inadequate manual that comes with the iPAQ, to no avail.
I assume there must be some sort of 'start-up' menu which over-rides my disable request.
Its really annoying when trying to enter a calendar date, etc, to be asked which bluettoth device I want to connect to.
Any help on this (not directly related to GPS) question would be really helpful. _________________ TomTom Start 25 M UK & ROI

perhaps a bit drastic, however you could try upgrading the IPAQ Firmware to the latest version (if you haven't already got it, but worth a go). maybe it's a known issue that has been corrected with the update? usually problems like these are overcome with latest fimrware/drivers.
you can get it here (read instructions carefully) -
HP iPAQ Pocket PC h5500 Series Firmware Update
http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/files/HandheldiPAQ/us/download/19764.html
i have an IPAQ H3870 and when i turn bluetooth off, it goes off - so sorry i can't be of great help.
good luck |

Thanks Minion.
I would try this but I can't see what versions of the firmware I already have. There seems to be no 'about' option in the software
Any ideas? _________________ TomTom Start 25 M UK & ROI

To see the versions of firmware/software you are running:
Tap Start > Settings. Tap the System tab at the bottom.
Tap 'Asset Viewer'.
Tapping the + by the side of 'Version' should tell you the ROM Date and revision number. _________________ Ian.

Don't know if it is the same on the 5550, but on my 2210 there is a little Bluetooth icon in the bottom-right corner of the screen - tapping this gives the option to turn Bluetooth on/off.
Hope this helps! |

Yes ... probably the best thing to do.
They may as well tell me the PDA is OK ... it's the software ... Bit Bill Gates-like
I would read the manual if it was worth the time spent.

Wild guess time, but are you using ActiveSync via bluetooth (assuming that's possible) to keep your iPaq in sync with your PC? If so, maybe it's trying to connect every time there's something to sync, such as a new or changed calendar entry, contact, etc? _________________ Barry Davies

Nice bit of lateral thinking ... thanks
... but No.
It happens in the cradle
Out of the cradle
and outside bluetooth range.
thanks for the thought _________________ TomTom Start 25 M UK & ROI
