Dave,
Have you contacted TomTom to see if they are working on any patches? I have delayed installing TTN2 on my 3970 because I am going to Ipswich on Friday and I want to use TTN when I am there. It would be nice to know if TomTom acknowledge that there are problems, ie locking up and the use of favorites, but as I have not upgraded I feel that it is not appropriate to complain.
I haven't yet, I've been building a list of problems. Unfortunately I receive the same problems in receiving replies from TomTom, so it takes 3 or 4 attempts usually.
Unfortuantely (or fortunately depending on how you look at it), I don't have an XScale PPC. |

No difference with regard to favourites - e.g. if I try to 'Navigate To' favourite from Navigator screen, TomTom just disppears as with the new version of the GPS module.

I've just intalled v1.5 GPS with TTN2 app.. It seems to operate - I will test and get back to you.

It's puzzling and very frustrating for the PocketGPS Team, had TomTom given us more than 1 evaluation copy we could test with a variety of configurations and see what breaks it, as it is we are stuck
I know there is nothing worse than having an unusable system after having eagerly anticipated it's arrival for so long, we've had no issues with stability but as I say we've had no opportunity to test it on the variety of platforms that we would normally use. TomTom haven't even bothered with the courtesy of a reply to my request for additional copies.
We are doing all we can to narrow down the configurations that have an issue and we will as ever be working hard in the background to get some answers from TomTom. _________________ Darren Griffin |

I hate to rock the boat, but I am using an Ipaq 3970, (with the latest ROM update) with an Emtac BTGPS and a Scandisk 256mb SD Card, and I have only had one TTN2 crash since I installed the program one week ago!! I actually find it more stable than TTN1. I also use the Compaq GSM/GPRS card to convert my Ipaq to a mobile phone, and TTN2 has been interupted by incoming phone calls and still recovered once the call is complete.Sorry I can’t give you any reasons why!! _________________ Andy H |

I too am running 3970 with Emtac BT - hopefully you may be on to something here. Unfortunatley will not have time to do your test until late next week.

I have tried the GPS v1.5 with my Toshiba E740 BT and my Emtac. This is what I was using with Citymaps originally. Interestingly, it offered a Toshiba version of the GPS driver that the V2 didn't. So I chose that.
But it didn't solve the problem. But whether it is coincidence or the placebo effect, my system seems fractionally more stable than before - but nevertheless still pretty awful!
I have now resigned myself to plotting routes in the map view, and not doing anything at all in the Navigator view other than navigating. This is workable given that I don't have TTN 1 to go back to. There seems to be enough concensus of a problem that I hope (indeed expect) some kind of fix soon.

Guys, we've been thinking about the issues some of you are having with TTNav2. It's possible that this is a BT GPS driver issue created by the latest GPS Driver. Would anyone be willing to try a little experiment?
Basically we want you to try and install the TTNavV1 GPS Update 1.50. It is possible that you won't be able to do this if V2 is installed but if it does install what we are looking to find out is if this solves the problem. The usual caveat's apply i.e. Doing this may render your system unusable and may require a hard reset and re-install etc. Although we at PocketGPS have a variety of PPC's and GPS receivers, we don't currently have a copy of TTNav2 running on a BT equipped iPAQ so can't test this ourselves or we would have!
If anyone is willing to have a go can you report your findings good or bad? _________________ Darren Griffin |

I have problems with locking up and crashes with 1.5 on my xscale Fujitsu Loox. Always in the first few minutes, once it was running a few minutes it would carry on running. Haven't got V2 yet.
I think it has something to do with trying to plan a route while the GPS is reporting a position that doesnt match a road, either because you are in a car park, or because the GPS position is not yet accurate enough.
Once it has planned a route, it doesnt seem to mind off road positions |

I have experienced the same problems. In fact, everything that everyone has mentioned. At least TomTom have acknowledged RichDem's email. Let's hope they identify the problem(s) soon and provide a fix.
Fortunately, I was able to prevent a friend buying TTN2 just in time!

Do we now these are definately x-scale issues? My ppc is an x-scale one, and seams to be ok, but I'm worried that it's just waiting until I need it most before it fails! _________________ If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice. |

Hi Darren,
I have a 3950 + Leadtek 9532, I don't seem to have the problems when navigating but as you have probably seen from my post the issue I have is with the map screen and the favourite lists.
Hope this helps

I've asked TomTom exactly that question - how do you make postcode searching work as described on the web site.
I'll let you know when I get an answer.
Appart from that it's working great on my 5450 (sorry), so maybe the problem IS device specific? _________________ If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice. |

A few others I've experienced:
1) Plan route A-B can't get to work and sometimes when tapping this icon it takes me out of TTNav altogether.
2) Can't appear to set points on map as either destination or departure
Also does anyone know how to do this:
"You can now use a postal code as a short-cut for entering a city name; In Great Britain, streets now also have a postal code postfix"
