If you have a HP hx4700 and your using a BT GPS with TT3.
Make sure you update TT3 to 3.07 or better otherwise TT3 will not pick up the signals from BT GPS device.
You may find that you have two COM ports to choose from now, I took the COM8 route, COM5 didn't seem to want to know.
In TT3 I used settings.......
NIMEA 0183v2 38400
Bluetooth Serial Port COM8
and you must tick the box
I also find TT3 locks up alot and I have to do an annoying soft reboot.
I think the problem lies in not having my bluetooth GPS connection running, TT3 keeps searching for it, and wont let you out of the program.
(A bit like a Microsoft program)
Thanks to David for all his help :D _________________ Tom Tom Go 300

3.07 is needed for on most machines that run Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition - such as the hx4700.
You need to use the outgoing Bluetooth serial port - the incoming one will not work. You can find which is which in the Bluetooth Settings on the machine. COM8 is the outgoing Bluetooth serial port on ROM 1.00 on the hx4700.
Locking up a lot could be a sign of memory card problems - one of the 1GB SD cards I tested in my hx4700 made TomTom Navigator lock up a lot. If you post the brand, type (SD, MMC or CompactFlash) size and any markings on the card, I'll say if I recognise it as a type that's been troublesome for me or others.
If you've got one of those SD cards that has a letter followed by eleven numbers on the back, and nothing else, it's almost certainly the SD card.

I am having trouble with lock-outs and came accross this old forum question.
My 1 gig card is a DANE-ELEC bought from Expansys.
Is this one in your rougue's gallery please?
regards

I've been running 3.07T for over a month now, without problem on my 2210.
But I turned it on yesterday and it took forever to load TomTom, then once loaded, nothing happened and it just locked up. Tried several soft resets and didnt make a difference. SD card and maps are ok because I left that untouched when I hard reset the device and installed version 3.03, it worked perfectly again. Not sure if it was just an unlucky corruption problem on the device or if its a bug in 3.07T? I've gone back to 3.03 for now can't afford to chance it locking up again when I''m miles away from home looking for a job location. |
