Hi,
Was just wondering if there's anyone who have managed to get hold of the PPC version of SmartST V3 yet. It is available from various sources on the internet (even in stock) but it hasn't appeared yet on Navman's webb page. A bit strange, don't you think?
Cheers,

Are you sure this SW works with PPC? At the bottom of the webb page it says:
What products will this work with?
Navman GPS 3000 series only. Includes 3300 and 3450
The question is if Navman GPS 3000 units are compatible with a system based on GPS4410 and a PDA with Windows Mobile 2003. I wouldn't go on ordering this product before knowing that for sure...
When you read this page you get the impression that SmartST V3 for PPC is a different one than the GPS3000 SW. I'd like to know for sure what SW will work for me before I start ordering...
On this site they claim that SmartST V3 for PPC is available already, but the picture shows a box for iCN...
I guess I have to be patient and wait for a confirmation about this... _________________ TomTom GO720T: App ver 8.351(9982/090518), OS:315187, GPS v1.20, Boot 5.5120

looking at the URL my guess is that although the software is for a ppc it's tied to the 3000 series (like earlier versions of smarst) and probably doesn't support bluetooth. Looking at it cynically you might say that the ppc version will be some way off as an unlocked, bluetooth version would always be preferable to a locked one (price notwithstanding)
I agree though that they're making it very confusing. |

The answer could lie within the post at the bottom of this page. A responsible company would want to test their products to ensure compatibility with existing ones. I can tell you that my version of V3 works just fine with my Navman sleeve and my Navman BT unit (4100). I'm also sure that Navman woudn't lock their software to their hardware. I will endeavour to test this using my Garmn to supply the data to the Navman V3 software, but this isn't going to happen today, as I haven't seen my Garmin serial cable in weeks. 8-( _________________ Tim |

Ok, that sounds promising.
I think I'll wait for SmartST V3 PPC to appear officially on Navman's site before I go ahead with the ordering. There seems to be a big competition between companies wanting to tie customers to them by offering products that have not yet been released on the market.

Well this one is certainly compatible with the PPC. but its the full EU version.
Also reading page ten of the user manual suggests that v3 is not locked to a particular GPS receiver. Unfortunately though I don't have access to any other receiver at the moment to try it out. _________________ Ian.
