|
|
Hi Guys and after having lurked for a while and discovered what an absolutely fantastic forum this is, I've finally registered!!
Having looked everywhere, read all the reviews etc and noted what other people are using, my newbie question is:
I've got an Ipaq 4150 and a Fortuna ClipOn GPS. TTN3 is just about to come through the post and I want to know what addons I should also be using. In particular should I use CheckPOInt or GPSAssist? Also which versions of each work best with PPC 2003? I know some people seem to have both installed but I want to keep it as simple as possible until I find my feet. Also will I need to update TTN3 when I get it out of the box? It seems as in most things to do with software that the latest updates to products don't necessarily work the best so I don't want to go down that route if it's not required.
Thanks for any advice and keep up the good work.

When you receive your TTN3 in the post you should not install the program from the CD. Here is what I would do:
- download TTN 3.07 from the TomTom support site and install it
- download TTGPS 2.07 from our downloads page and install it
- run the setupp routine from the CD1 and install the voice file and the maps you need (for the maps use a card reader)
This will guarantee the cleanest and most hassle--free setup. _________________ Lutz

Hi
In addition to Lutz's advice i would also recommend you install the postcode progam.
With regard to checkpoint or gps assist i would recommend starting with checkpoint as this is FREE :D . Gpsassist has a lot more features but is not free . once you have some experience of you new setup you can then decide whether you need gpsassist.
I hope this helps _________________ We are the Pilgrims: master, we shall go always a little further. |

Thanks guys for the speedy response. Here's a further question (or 2)though.
Still waiting for TTN3 to arrive from the courier but I've downloaded the 2 updates Lutz mentioned so I'll be all set to go when it does. However I notice from the TomTom website that the Navigator 3.07 update includes the GPS 3.07 update as well. If I then install a previous (GPS 2.07 ) update will that not cause a problem?
Also my 4150 (4 months old) seems only to have PPC 2003 on it and not SE (no sign of SE in the 'About' details) so is the update still valid?
Sorry to be a pain but I'd rather ask stupid questions than completely screw it up from the start.
Cheers,

You can also download them separately.
As for SE - don't bother. TTN3 doesn't support Landscape mode anyhow. _________________ Lutz
