Well strangely enough (something I didn't put in the preview), the GPS Status screen is stretched out now a little and there's now no version number (you'll see this on one of the screenshots I provided). So I'm not too sure there will be many tweaks to the status driver. Or they may put the version information elsewhere.
I agree from the developer point of view, and I can't clarify whether the version I have is the final code, this may be changed. |

Dave, thanks for the preview.
You mention that TTN2 allows demo routes without GPS attached. This *was* possible in TTN1.5, just very fiddly.
To make demo routes work without a GPS connected in TTN1.5 you need to select the "demo" GPS rather than your real one in the GPS setup screen, then remember to set it back again the next time you want to use the real GPS.

Hi Mark, not fiddly at all now. Just plot route start/destination and then select the A to B option, your start/destination is entered, hit OK, it plots the route and then go into Demo mode and you get the full route now. |

I'm not sure how this works, but I've just ordered Navigator v1 from NavCity.co.uk for just £79.99 including VAT and it says I get a free upgrade to Navigator v2 by registering with Tom Tom since I bought it after March 1st 2003.
So, how come other companies are selling Navigator v2 for £99.99 plus VAT!
I just hope I haven't been duped!

Thank you Dave for the excellent preview. It is good to be able to see so much detail before we get the update.

Dave
Thanks for the hard work at such short notice in putting this together. I note that the Post Code routing may not be quite what we were hoping for but can you let us know how the house number selection works ahead of he full review?
Thanks

Rob, House number works well, just how you'd expect it to. If you tap on a part of the road, it will give you two house numbers, one on one side and one on the other. It's not clear though which number is on which side, but it does seem fairly accurate, atleast for my house and a few others I've tried. |

Well, with regards to the post code search I know for a fact that THE GOODMAN (forum trouble maker) will not be a happy bunny as the poor guy was addicted to Copilot which he claimed had the best post code search - Dave I will leave it to you to answer him back |

Well folks, here it is, the Mini Upgrade Review for TomTom Navigator 1 users to TomTom Navigator 2.
Enjoy! A full review is in the works and will be available in about a weeks time.

Unfortunately I haven't had a chance to test it on my 3630. It's quite ill, and I only have once activation available. From what I can tell on the 3870, I really don't think there will be any issues, TTN2 runs just as fast as TTN1. |

jayshry, CoPilot does still have the best Post Code search facility by far, so nothing really has changed there. |

From what I remember of the Co-Pilot postcode search, it brings back the town or city - the street and house number still has to be entered manually. Is that right? For me, while post code search is desirable to reduce the amount of typing, if all it does is pull up the city, then it has limited value IMHO. Far more important, for me, is the house number since it is that which allows door-to-door routing. How many times have you been driving up and down a long road to find the house you're looking for with no idea which side of the road it's on or which end?
I would like to be able to enter the full post code and house number only which would then populate the city and street name automatically. I don't want to have to search a long list having entered just the first part of the post code.
Just my two penneth worth...
As ever, Dave, a great informative review.

I'm the same with the postcode search. It takes quite a while to enter the city details at the moment, so I'd just like to pump in the postcode and house number and it'll sort the rest out.
Still - it's on it's way _________________ What's going on? Where am I? |
